Well this is a poem that i had written for one of my projects about the youth of today
To Be An Indian
They say I am born in India,
And so I am an Indian,
A country rich with tradition
And boasts unity in its diversification
They say I am an Indian,
But do I know our tradition?
Oh yes I do, but definitely not all,
For this the time of a cultural downfall
They say I am an Indian,
And I do see diversification
For people of different religions do stay here,
But their unity, well, about that I am not too sure
They say I am an Indian
And I do love India,
But about my country, I don’t have a basic idea
So I asked my mother,
“Is following culture and tradition an integral part of being an Indian?”
She said, “To be a good Indian, it is necessary to have belief in our culture and tradition and to preserve and protect it, and above all, it is necessary to have love and care for your homeland.”
Ignorant, if I can call myself,
I don’t know much about all of this.
So, I am left to wonder,
Am I really an Indian?
