College Lingo....!!!!

As I stepped into college, I realised that every college is unique in its own way and some things truly set it apart from the rest...our college lingo being one of those things.......
So PPL, share your own typical college lingos....
For instance my own college...By the end of first semester in AIT(Army Institue of Technology) you'll have these words added to your vocabulary......

1.Sir/maám:all your seniors have to be addressed as sirs and maáms

2.fanta-fanti: girlfriend boyfriend

3.OAC:Open Air Cafetaria:the central meeting point for lovebirds,magazine board members,cultural fest JAM practices.....

4.JAM-Just A Minute:speaking continuously and non-stop for atleast a minute before someone else JAMs(spots an error) you...

5.Fight:struggle,diffculty

one word that's famous in our college i.e. KMc is "bakaiti"....it means talkin non-stop....the word's real interesting...lolz...

two popular words of our college are....acha acha....and it comes into use jab koi fekta hi chala jata hai. and we say acha acha

one word that we use a lot is "ghissu", for anyone who shows any inclination to study!!

The first word that we hear the moment we enter our coll is LUKHA... It is a term used for all ppl in general who HATE studyin... Also smbody's gf/bf is refered as DAU...
And the most used word on everybody's mouth:BC.....or the Boat Club where u'll find almost everybody who studies(or tries to) in this coll...

We're Kolkatans and d lingo of our college is based on Bengali slang which can get really dirty at times, especially the "cuss words"!

We console ourselves with the "chaap niyo na" which stands for "Tension nahi lene ka!". There are the "chaat sessions" n how the professors "chaatofy" us which stands for ragging or making life hell. "Pirit kora" stands for flirting or making love while an "apod" is someone highly dumb or someone who brings trouble! There's more! Will keep updating while I remember!

"Chattu"...-slap or a thappad...

A word that's really popular in our college groups is "chill"... pronounced with added stress on the vowel with a bengali accent!
"fatafati"- meaning "awesome"; "jharofy"- meaning getting good dosage of scolding from just about abyone- are very much in use as well. And as Anwesha has alredy pointed out, Kolkata college lingo is very bengali oriented!

aaah..bengali slang was refreshing!!!! cmmmon gurls..give us some more..aaro koekta bolo na!

there was a phase when 'haaaan toh!!' to everything became exxxtremely popular...so wen somebody had some interesting anecdote to share, we wud all go 'haaan tohh'!....very stupidly funny i knw:P

well people i just joined my college 2 weeks ago & since then i have come across this word called "kat-tey" or "kat-ley" which means lets leave or lets go....the usage of this word is like..."abhi toh woh boring politics ka lecture hai...chal"kat letey" hain...issey pehle ki teacher aa jaaye"

weird isnt it?? (as katna means to cut/ or to to get cut in chaste hindi..)

in our college...evry single grup has their own language.....i use the words like jhapad, teri to, ek padega na, acha -acha....n my fav WOW...its funny...bt whenver me n my frns make fun of anyone's dressing style or anything which makes us laugh...we just say wow...n we just love the word vry much.....

yes...i forgot to tell sum other words like champu, dodo, dheet....these r d words which my frns frm B.B.A says alot...they all r vry dheet ppl....hehe
