| i agree...all girls aren't nice too...every one has their pros and cons!! to quote ankit himself ' tehre is no black or white, everyone has shades of grey'...lolz...
and yea...i mean do you really have to think about how to interact with the opposite sex? i mean what will you learn about interaction this way?
and yea...as far as co-ed people being broad minded about relationships is concerned...i guess it's not because they are studying together...it's probably because of their aquaintance with relationships, which is because they had a better chance to be in one....hehe

| i m certain that "only girl's "colleges do provide a constructive atmosphere , but i d still say that co eds can help u deal with "the other sex" better and can translate into more sound relationships and society. being able to see the other person s point of view and apreciate it is a skill that comes with time. | |

| [quote="ankit govil"]most men really don't see girls as humans. (no offense)
i think samridhi that u r making an unnecessary "generalsation". at times when someone does u a favor outta the blue one tends to see the world as a great friendly place.but it could be just the opposite say if u gt robbed or molested.its like saying "every muslim is a terrorist" in the west. follow my advice and do refrain from making such "generalised statements".nothing is true for everybody.and yes they will most certainly cause offense even if u don t intend to cause harm.watch out 4 the boomerang !

| most people are a product of their environments that they come from,by and large. its not really the person s choice at times. say a child comes from a family where the father beats up his wife or where the wife plays a secondary or submissive role.though the child may bear a sympatheic attitude ,he may also develop thoughts / views of man 's dominance . isnt therefore it needed that our education provides an amosphere where boys and girls are pitted as equals and can appreciate the other sex's calibre and individuality . and when women excel in such an atmosphere, it automatically earns them respect and instills in men the ability see women on top ,which may otherwise be an absurdity to them. | |

| its very common to hv such an attitude towards women progressin,n probably daz d reason y we hv so many feminist jokes in our society...its coz its expected out of women to tk a back seat,n tk care of household chores.... n dis is nt jus in d higher classes or nethin...evn der u get to see bored housewives who hv nothin to do,except fr goin to kitty parties n playin cards,or d vry common "SOCIAL WORK"! d lower classes, though dey hv wrkin women, they aren't the decision-makers of the family. the patriarchal system is to blame here...even we have been brought up in such a way that we see our fathers as the heads,n not necessarily our mothers. take our nursery books for example- it will always be "FATHER GOES TO WORK",n "MOTHER COOKS",n statements like that.when our foundation itself is built on such grounds, then we can't blame any one for such a regressive mindset.i think we have to take it on us to change the whole scenario..... | |

| ya smriti,i think being in a co ed stunts a girls growth, no be coz boyz r bullies but, becoz, they r constantly exposed to the regular way of thinking (ie the way women think in a male dominated society.) even the teacher r like that. in a particular incident i remember that one of my teacher thought the i was very unlady like, becoz i was very loud, nd she could here me in another class room. the entire school was empty apparently. | |

You can have a girl-bully for boys and vice versa. And I don't believe that bullying doesn't happen in a girls' schoo. Surely, the bigger ones would like to bully the little?? @samridhi, I suppose that you had a really cranky teacher. Or maybe she'd have told the same to a boy as well. But you can't make generalizations like that... - Quote :
- and now the no.of girls in an engg. college is anybody's guess.
(i think Ankit said this) Oh, ha ha. Do you really think that this statement has anything to do with the topic?? Come on, now... I have never been in an all-girls' school so I don't think it's fair that I compare the two. I suppose people who've been in both can give a better idea about this.

| @ smriti what a load of gibberish ! as far as bullying is concerned ...one can get bullied even at home by one s siblings and cousins. or on the playfield....its happenining everywhere even at the stock market for cryin out loud!i m glad that u all hv bcom used to facing it and standing up against it since childhood..... @samridhi hey every1 s been called up by the teacher 4 makin noise at school.even guys are supposed to behave like gentlemen u know....its gud that u were checked or else u wud have been no better than a "commonplace flower girl " in ur demeanour.do call dat teacher and thank her.maybe she taught u smtn. | |

A platonic relationship can exist between a boy and a girl! Co-ed's not just about having guys to flirt/go out with, you know. This no fun without boys line is quite sick, I tell you.

| @ankit, I suppose I saw just that line but don't you agree that it was silly? Or maybe I became defensive coz I'm a girl in an engg college and what you said made no sense whatsoever.
And the other statement was made to keep things fair. I'd go mad in an all-girls school very soon but I'd definitely like to hear what someone who's been in both has to say.

| dear jayashree, the statement is written in a very light hearted manner! as most have under stood. I have studied in a co ed throughout, and am now in a girls college, this is to tell u that u were reading something, who's been to both! the write up aims to explain how much fun it can be in a girls college.u are lossing it's essence, as ankit points out. | |

| @ dcemaverick suggestion taken. as for the teacher, i respected her a lot,i just wanted to point out that, most teachers expected the stereotypical behaviour from girls,u were always expected to be a certain kind. that prevents personality growth. | |

| i completely, honestly, truly believe in all that you wrote, I did my schooling in a convent school and can't even describe the fun I had..I think girls make best friends and probably thats why when i reached col I was still surrounde by girls..hehe though in a co-ed! | |

| @dcemaverick- i just pointed out a TENDENCY in young boys of being bullyish in childhood,as they TEND to be more aggresive than girls when they are young.I have studied this topic with great interest as Im a student of child psychology.
And nowhere did I blame boys for the low self-confidence of little girls or anything... so chillax dude!!!
