| @ nikhita...well ma'am...it is easier sed than done...and well, if u did read the paper properly, the blulines were off the road as a result of their own strike against the disciplinary action (challans and fines) taken over them by the delhi traffic police...well, well, cnt really blame the government for it, cn u?...
and newspapers n other media should not b really trusted blindly, coz i have seen them staging up things in order to get the desired reports...'exaggertion' is the word... am talkin from personal experience...so....

| i know they have been off the roads due to decisions taken by them only (they fear being challaned), but they have been forced to do this because our always sleeping government suddenly realised that it needs to challan those who are not abiding by the laws. Tell me, if these bluelines decide to pay for the challans, whatever the government is asking for (i gues it is rs600, though am not sure)...will teh situation become any better? wil the accidents decrease that way???again, what the government is thinking is a way of making money and nothing else... yesterday, DTC made profits worth Rs15 lakh by increasing the fleet by 650 buses (it was earlier reporting a loss of Rs80 lakh per day). The need is 4000 and not 650. If the Sheila Dixit government decides to spend some of their valuable money on increasing teh DTC fleet( by the way they are not short of buses, they are not just putting them to good use)...the problem can be tackled, as well as profits made. And yea...i agree with you on the 'exaggeration' point!! but i was on road that day, and there were bluelines plying too, but they weren't ready to stop on the bus stops and literally running with no passengers on them (i guess because they are also being challaned fo rbeing over filled). and yea...over 162 buses have been impounded too(and that too most ofthem plying on the busiest routes), so that also makes a difference sir! | |

| hmm...increasing the num of dtc buses is not the only way out... more buses mean more traffic,... and u r talking abt removing blueline buses competely, dont u think how many ppl will become unemployed if this happens... surely not all of thm are guilty.... | |

| by DTC i mean government regulated and not privately owned...the permit given to DMRC for 650 new buses by the delhi govt today is heartily welcomed, and i am sure teh govt can come up with more such ideas... and ankit, if new DTC buses come in, am sure you know they won't be run buy some supernatural powers...government will need staff, drivers, conductors, etc etc...so the blueline staff (who you say is not guilty...), if worthy of it , can apply for the same jobs.... | |

| @ nikhita...well, i guess you know the problem too well... what are the basis of yer comments may i know? ... the very same newpapers which claim that aap ka surroorr is the biggest hit of the year?? hehe...
n well yeah, i do believe heavy challans make u think twice before breaking a rule o two... i got challaned for overspeeding (900 bucks to be precise) and since then i hvnt ever crossed the speed limit...coz i soo dont wanna lose another 900 bucks on sumthin as stupid as this...
and another thing, all we need to do is to discipline the traffic in delhi... and YES, the accidents would decrease for sure... i have no doubt about that for sure...
also, i still am not convinced about the challans being a mere source of government revenue part...coz well, i can see my taxes being put to good use in delhi (settin up of the metro, wider roads, better and privatised electricity have improved delhi a hell lot in the last few years)... havin sed that i know there is still a lot to be tackled, a long long way to go....you gotta remeber nothin can be perfect...but am an optimist at heart....n i know by 2010 we'll see a completely new, world class delhi...
PS- THE POLICE DID NOT REPRIMAND THESE BLUELINES FOR OVERLOADING... THIS TOOI WAS SPECIFIED IN THE VERY SAME NEWPAPE YOU READ... THEY IMPOSED A FINE ON THEM FOR NOT HAVING A VALID LICENSE, OVERSPEEDING N ALL...coz well, they too reaslise the problem of burgeoning population in the city....

| i agree that Sheila Dikshit's government did a lot of good for Delhi and it's people atleast in it's first term. i really dont know if there is any alternative to sheila Dikshit even now. for me the real culprits are the Corrupt cops, both delhi Police and teh traffic Police. had they been doing their duty honestly. things would not have come to such a stand. and although deep in my heart i want all the bluelines to be off the road, but i know that it is not the solution. the first step to be taken is to discipline teh cops and drive out the thought from the minds of teh people that they will be easily let off by paying a bribe to teh cops no matter what crime they commit and how many rules they break. | |

| @sahil...next time you go out, i think that will be on monday...go to a blueline bus driver and ask him why were they being fined?? (and the source is a lil chat i had with this auto rickshaw wallah and a blue line conductor the other day) and yea...i guess your sheila dixit government showed it's true colours today...see how angry they were, that a stupid promise by one team representing the blueline operators was able to melt their hearts (wonder where did teh plans to enforce esma go??).....awwww....i guess we'll see mrs. dixit travelling by the blueline now and not walk all they way....rubbish!!! ps...i agree with vaibhava and u too sahil thats heila dixit government has done a lot for the city, and this is why it hurts more...cause i know they can do it if they want to, but they aren't doing it because of their weird political reasons.... | |

| @ nikhita...well, all i wanna know is...do you have a solution??...if not, then you dont have the right to complain...n well, politics and beauracracy have been here and will always be here..
i still stand by my statement and applaud the government's efforts..
n well about 'meltin their heart' thing...all i cn do is laugh at you...in the first comment you complain that the govt has taken the worst step possible by decidin to take the bluelines off the roads...n now again after warning them and takin some stern steps, when the govt has agreed to let them be...then again u have a prob...
n i dont agree with mr rakeysh mehra when he says: Koi bhi desh perfect nahi hota, usse perfect banana padta hai... -Rang De Basanti
because for me, the word perfect is imperfect in itself...

| i think you are taking me totalle wrong...i said in the beginning itself that tehy should have taken this step when they had a solution and a back up plan ready....and what i said above about 'tehir hearts melting' was to tell you taht this is how fake ur great sheila dixit government is....i was never for doing sumthing in a hurry lkike they did...what am telling is that all they know is to make a fool out of dilliwallahs..and people like u are fallign in tehir trap too...luk wat they did..tehy were they heroes in teh eyes od the delhi population, and ultimately got back with the blueline operators too..no one is hurt....and they have one more addition to their so called 'heroic' actions... and solution...well i don't have one...but i do have the right to complain and my voice heard...after all i live here...use the public utilities..pay for it...my parent pay teh taxes (hopefully, i will too in a few years)...then why don't i have the right to complain? don't be foolish...this isn't a college union problem ki himmat hai toh khud kuchh karke dikhao...be practical dude!! and as far as the dialogue by rakeysh mehra is concerned...i guess now i 'll have to laugh back at you...coz either you are sumone who doesn't believe in perfection or you are too scared to be the deshwaasi who makes his desh perfect (where di the optimism go??)!!! | |
