BOYFRIEND/GIRLFRIEND SYNDROME!!!

Walking down the lane with a bag hanging down my shoulders to the level of a tired laborer after a hard day’s work, my mind was brimming with innumerable thoughts... some plain, some complex, some easy to decipher, some tough to understand, some less evident, some more hidden... varied kinds of thoughts and feelings were entangling my mind in every other way.

I was too busy living these thoughts to such an extent that I failed to notice a motorist hurling abuses at me for crossing the road when it was supposed to be a green light, a paradise for all the bikers and car drivers. But my eyes were too sharp enough to catch sight of a couple strolling down the way, hand in hand, arm in arm and eyes in eyes. Oh! What a scene... adding to my woes of thinking and pondering over little issues of life, one more thought popped up... Why do people exhibit their love and care for each other in public? Why the hell do they make the singletons feel inferior in front of them? This affection bound behavior in public... What’s the use of this? Can’t they get a life? If they love each other damn so much then why not go and make love in their own backyards rather than bugging the singles like me who are ready to mingle but cannot due to some laid down strict rules and regulations? I started to crack the reason behind this petty issue which carried a lot of weight in my life, at least for the time being!!!


The possibilities could be, according to me- Firstly the most thought of reason is that they just want to show the world their immense kindness and obligation towards each other that “Look, we are in a relation and we need to love each other. So let’s just get started wherever and whenever we get time off from our busy schedule. Even making out in public is not a bad idea.” Secondly, a mediocre reason probably they are too much in love with each other that they cannot see any thing apart from their partner on this earth. This can be fake and short lived most of the times because it is mostly dominated by lust and desire for physical love than a much more emotional understanding. Oh this reason is too complex to grasp. And lastly the least thought of reason is that they are suffering from the common syndrome called “BOYFRIEND/GIRLFRIEND syndrome”. To increase your standing among your friends you make a boyfriend or a girlfriend... your friends start feeling jealous and subsequently your image begins to form as an experienced guy or girl who supposedly not only knows it al but has also done it all.


These possibilities are just possibilities and not concrete answer to my all the more concrete queries. At the end of it I am still clueless... I am still confused... I am still puzzled... I am still bamboozled.... so I continue to drift in my ‘thinking’ world.... which will come up with yet another thinking issue next time which will force you to put on your thinking cap!!!

holding hand is not bout demonstrating ur love in public...its bout letting ur partner know dat u r no shy of showin ur affection in public...its bout saying dat u r there for ur partner doesnt matter if the world is against u or not....its bout socially accepting ur relationshp and sayin dat u r damn serious bout it...
and swati ..dats ur name rite??...u feel uncomfortable with ths public display of affection thng, then i ll tell u ths....why don u c it the other way around...think of them as best frnds...i mean i ve walked with mah best frnd hand holdin her hand in public.....and btw we both were single dat time.......BUT...ths thng only holds true in case of holding hands and hugs and all.....nethng more than dat in public is a sick thng to do...

swati, i thnk its not reely abt public display of affection, sumtimes u r not selfconcious of wot ur doing in public... thts wot is called "love" my dear... i don wanna sound like a love sik puppy, or cheesy n mushy... but yes, sumtims ppl r not very concious of themselves... n they r just "themselves"...

Being single is fun... the sens of liberty is so just so great!! But then, a friend of mine had once said- no one would be single if he/she had an option to be engaged/commited... umm.. now I am still wondering if she was right!!

well..singledom really rocks!!!you are free to do anything and everything under the sun..common guys!!enjoy your life with your friends.Don't restrict your life to just one person..And as far as public display of affection is concerned.I think this should be in limits..one should be intelligent enough to draw the line.

the extent to which u display this 'public display of affection' (very recently i understood zats wat pda stands for..i thot it was sum kinda disease!) essentially depends on the place u stay.....seriously culture has a lot to do with this....u go to the US or UK oreven hong-kong, kissing, holding hands, whispering swee-nothings and all zat crap is very normal and very common there....here, our culture doesnt appreciate it....nothing right or wrong abt it...just a matter of our own perception and upbringing

so wen in love, do wat lovers do but never forget that 'romans' have a say too!

its best to stay single at this age...enjoy the freedom..as usually the majority bit of life is spent as committed (married)..
i think the age 18-25..is THE time to enjoy..obviously earn, work etc should be there..but crying, being suppressed n sacrificing should definately not arise at this age..
