Lonely

Lonely

A distant look in her eyes,
She sat at the doorstep,
Looking high up at the sky.
She thought of that day ,
When he said to her ,
"I have to leave dear,I have to fly away,
But shall return before long..."

Her heart had wept,
"No!Dont go yet!"
but with a smile on her lips and
a tear in her eye,
she had said ,"Goodbye !"
watching him leave as the sun went down,
made her feel she was all alone in town.

Now days have melted,months have flown,
she was still waiting,she was still alone.
Till one day that knock on the door,
had brought the news she didn't want to hear,
"he fought like a lion till his end came...."
the remaining words went past her ears,
for she knew her world would never be the same....
