Presidency College,Kolkata..a legend in its own right..with its own share of truth and myths..we've all taken a piece of this great (in every way!) institution and made it our own..and in the process,have fallen hopelessly in love..here's where i give u the juicy tidbits of my love affair with my college..I'll keep updating this blog now n then..all r welcome to read,comment and enquire..I started out posting in Campus buzz..but i felt the need to start a blog as my posts are gettin embarrasingly long there Embarassed

The Canteen
Where Presi comes alive....!

The Presidency College canteen..run by a very lovable Promod da and his able-bodied, right hand 'men'..a teenage 'jeet' and a tiny 'jibon'(I don't think he's growing anymore) who liven up the place with their antics and one liners and who our quite efficient in recovering payments as well! The food is never a problem even if ur next to broke..a full plate of chiken chowmein for 20 buks! and besides,that canteen regulars can always avail of discounts and meals on 'special' credit that doesn't need repayment! Students of all shapes,sizes,departments,batches and even other colleges (yes,all are welcome) come together to create a mellifluous ruckus! The space permits all kinds of activites..so whether its dancing or singing aloud,the college atheletes running to and fro from the adjoining badminton court..debates and discussions..event management..reading the bright and opinionated posters and graffiti that adorn the walls..bunking classes all day and soaking in the smells emanating from the kitchen..sharing a meal with our 4 legged friends (ALL are indeed welcome)..making new friends(2 legged)..renewing old ones..couples getting cozy on the steps outside the canteen..It's a place for all!

(pssst!be prepared to have Promod da 'grill' u about ur wherabouts if u've been missing from the canteen for more than a few days at a stretch!)
The food consists of spicy and 'Promod da-ised' chinese fare..also regulars like fish batter fry, chops, rolls,chiken lollipops feature on the menu,with some items being removed to make way for new ones according to promod da's whims and fancies...delicious ' aajker(today's) special' like pulao,parathas,'kosha mangsho'( a bengal delicacy- a mutton preparation dancing in oil and spices!) make guest appearances every now and then..add to the above, the familiar faces of the channa,coffee and lemon tea vendors..and u'll find something for every occasion!
Vegetarians,however may face limited choices..bcoz the canteen is essentially a meat lover's paradise..perhaps the most agonizing irony for these poor souls is the gigantic 'lays' billboard that adorns the wall behind the counter..yet not a single packet of chips can be spied anywhere! but the sporting ones rarely complain coz the atmosphere is 'electrifyingly heavy' enough to fill up one's tummy and more!
So feel free to drop into r canteen anytime..anyday..it's unlimited fun and food guaranteed!

The Great Indian Coffee House..hmmm..im tryin to make this blog presi-centric so maybe ill write a post about the 'famous'(historically and otherwise:D) places in and arnd my college..good idea smriti..a new post's comin up v soon!

you are the second person i know who first studied in xavier's then went to presi...it must surely be a wonderful place...i have heard so much about it but i don know why the party politics plays on my mind..i dont know the real picture there though...

ok before i write about all the eateries around presi..(yes we presidencians are certified gluttons) i think i should write something about presi's so called 'party politics' image..since adi has already brought it up..this is one of the saddest misconceptions surroundin presi and the only reason why others didn't fall head into heels in love with presi the way we did...ill form my post like a list of the myths and then follow each up with the true picture..then perhaps ull understand how ridiculous it is to be 'terrified' of presidency...
