| 15 minutes for the 7:30 bus,I was still in bed and mum was creating such a fuss.I frantically looked for my new pair of jeans ,I had to make it to college today by all means.I’d be the seniorest in college today, Making it an important day.So I wore my pink tee (the one I don’t wear often)And put on the sunscreen so my skin would soften.I wore oodles o’ kajalAnd hoops to match, Off to the stop, for the bus I had to catch.Ignoring mom’s comments on carrying no booksI was all prepared to get some admiring looks.I reached the stand and found not a single soulSo I thought I was early:scratch: , so I’d wait some more.I waited and waited for an hour or two, nothing seemed to be running, no autos too.It struck me then that DTC’s wouldn’t be running today coz the rowdy blue lines were few.Oh finally I can see one coming this way,So loaded with people, it tilted at an angle.Heads popping out of windows and smelly bodies were mangled.A grinning conductor popped his head out singing a romantic song . I took a deep breath, and boarded the bus,I knew this was going to be long.A funny looking uncleji checked me out As I nudged my way through the sweaty crowd.I pushed and I pulled and pinched, and I shoutTo find a ladies seat occupied by a crazy old lout!!Now, I tried to be as polite one can, in this mad atmosphereAnd said, “bhaiya ji you’re on the ladies seat there.”Now most self respecting guys would give way instantly,But this particular one stared at me incessantly. Now I got mad, and I screamed at him,I was the passenger who others would dreadHe made faces, and took a deep breath,Picked up a tall bamboo stick and stood up with its support. So I figured he was physically challenged as he walkedAs other around me looked at me and mocked. I quickly told him he could sit and that I’m sorry,But he, was, a self respecting guy and wouldn’t take my storySo I sat guiltily, reached college full of sweat, filthily Reached college to find out none of my class mates made it,We were mass bunking, so I threw a fit | |
