In a pool of blood my darling lay,
I slowly swept a tear away,
She let out a cry as she twirled in pain
I held her tight and wept again.
As I held her feeble paw,
In her eyes the pain I saw,
The joy of birth had turned into a gloom
As she curled up in the corner of the room
In sweet tenderness, she slowly slept,
her eyes looked at me as I wept.
Then she let out a cry again
I took her in my arms in vain,
She knew she couldn't take it long,
I knew in sometime she would be gone
I felt her sob in my arms this time,
her breath so soft, her feel so fine
Slowly she sank to eternal rest,
As she lay, lifeless on my chest..
As the sadness spread around
I lay my darling on the ground..
As still as the moment on the ground she lay
Death has taken her far away!
A poem to my little dog who died giving birth to pups...
